Foi no mês passado que estive no Monte Prado e não podia deixar de partilhar a experiência aqui convosco. Decidimos aproveitar as férias em comum, minhas e do meu namorado, e fomos para longe de casa… mas não tão longe quanto isso, porque não pretendíamos uma viagem de carro de horas a fio. Depois de uma pesquisa rápida, sempre em cima do joelho (a fazer jus a nossa alma "tuga"), escolhemos o Monte Prado. Um quatro estrelas, com uma arquitectura moderna, mesmo ao nosso gosto, espaço de jardim, piscina exterior, SPA e restaurante. Motivos já suficientes para nos convencer, mas o melhor de tudo é mesmo ficar no meio do nada, quase literalmente. Localiza-se em Melgaço, a terra do Alvarinho, e sensivelmente a duas horas de carro do Porto. A viagem faz-se muito bem, e quando lá chegamos estávamos noutro tempo. Mesmo junto à fronteira espanhola, os dias foram desacelerados. Aproveitamos imenso a piscina, que apesar do hotel não estar vazio era muitas vezes só nossa! Maravilha!!! Foram dias de sol, descanso e deu ainda para passear no centro da vila. Gostei imenso do restaurante do hotel, que serve também refeições a não hóspedes mediante marcação. O mesmo está recomendado pelo guia Boa Cama Boa Mesa (assim como o hotel em si), e confirmo, é bom mesmo! Isto sem esquecer o pequeno-almoço delicioso e com uma oferta bem vasta. Também é possível fazer refeições ligeiras no bar da piscina, ideal para quem como nós ficou a vegetar entre espreguiçadeiras e mergulhos e perdeu por completo a noção das horas.
Se preferirem explorar Melgaço recomendo vivamente uma visita às termas, onde podem provar água e claro, apreciar o edifício que é só LINDO, e ainda um jantar na Adega Sabino, um restaurante bem no centro da vila aberto desde a década de 40 inserido na Rota do Alvarinho. Lá encontram comida regional absolutamente deliciosa! Com sorte conseguem um lugar na esplanada e aposto que a vossa refeição vai ter logo outro encanto. Vou querer voltar certamente!
Uma última dica, no hotel têm acesso a um passadiço que se estende desde a margem do rio até ao centro da vila, perfeito para uma caminhada descontraída!

It was last month that I went to Monte Prado and I have to share the experience here with you. We decided to take the holidays in common, mine and my boyfriend's, and we went away from home... but not as far as that, because we didn't intend to travel for hours on end. After a quick search, always on top of the knee (to live up loyal to our portuguese soul), we chose Monte Prado. A four star hotel with a modern architecture, even to our taste, garden space, outdoor pool, SPA and restaurant. Already enough reasons to convince us, but best of all is to stay in the middle of nowhere, almost literally. It's located in Melgaço, the land of Alvarinho wine, and roughly two hours by car from Oporto. The trip is very well, and when we got there we were in another time. Even near the Spanish border, the days were slowed down. We really enjoyed the pool, which although the hotel isn't empty was often just ours! Wonderful!!! It was sunny days, we rest and even gave to stroll in the center of the village. I really enjoyed the hotel restaurant, which also serves meals to non-guests by appointment. The same is recommended by the Good Bed Good Tab guide (just like the hotel itself), and I confirm, it's good even! This not to forget the delicious breakfast and with a very vast offer. It's also possible to eat at the pool bar, ideal for those like us who like to get between sunbeds and dives and completely lost track of the hours.
If you prefer to explore Melgaço I strongly recommend a visit to the thermal baths, where you can taste water and of course, enjoy the building that is just BEAUTIFUL, and also a dinner at Adega Sabino, a restaurant right in the center of the village opened since the 40's inserted in Rota do Alvarinho. There you'll find absolutely delicious regional food! With luck they get a place on the terrace and I bet your meal will soon have another charm. I'll definitely want to go back!
One last tip, at the hotel you have access to a walkway that stretches from the river bank to the center of the village, perfect for a relaxed walk!
